Sweden: Inflation ebbs in June from May
Latest reading: Consumer prices with a fixed interest rate (CPIF) were up 1.3% on a year-on-year basis in June, following a 1.5% rise in the prior month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were reduced price pressures for transportation (+3.5% in annual terms vs +6.0% in May) and food and non-alcoholic beverages (-6.8% vs -6.2% in May). In contrast, price pressures were higher for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels in June (+4.0% vs +2.6% in May).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices—which exclude energy costs as well as the effect of interest-rate changes—rose 0.4% in annual terms in June, following a 0.5% increase in the previous month.
Finally, consumer prices with a fixed interest rate were up 0.34% in June in month-on-month terms, following a 0.89% increase in the previous month.
