Spain: Retail sales recover in May
Latest reading: Retail sales were up 0.6% in working-day and seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in May, following a 1.5% drop in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s data, readings in May improved for large chain stores (+0.6% on a working-day and seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis vs -0.3% in April) and single retail stores (+1.0% vs -1.6% in April). In contrast, the reading for small chain stores worsened in May (-0.2% vs -0.1% in April).
In annual terms, retail sales rose 1.3% in May, following a 0.6% rise in the prior month.
