Slovakia: Inflation decelerates in July from the prior month
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 3.2% on a year-on-year basis in July, following a 3.5% increase in the previous month. July’s reading was the weakest since September 2024.
Relative to the prior month’s data, there were reduced price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (-2.1% on a year-on-year basis vs -0.5% in June) and housing and utilities (+9.4% vs +9.7% in June). In contrast, there were higher price pressures for transportation (+7.0% vs +5.3% in June) and recreation (+5.2% vs +4.8% in June). Finally, the change in restaurants and hotels prices was the same as in the prior month (+4.7% in July and June).
Meanwhile, consumer prices rose 3.3% in July, following a 3.5% rise in the prior month.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.08% in July on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.18% decline in the previous month.
