Slovakia: Inflation slows in May from April
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices were up 4.0% in annual terms in May, following a 4.1% rise in the prior month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were reduced price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+0.3% in annual terms vs +1.0% in April) and restaurants and hotels (+5.2% vs +5.5% in April). In contrast, there were more notable price pressures for transportation (+9.4% vs +7.2% in April), housing and utilities (+9.4% vs +9.3% in April) and recreation (+4.8% vs +4.7% in April).
Meanwhile, consumer prices rose 3.8% in May, following a 3.9% rise in the prior month.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.36% in May in month-on-month terms, following a 0.51% rise in the prior month.
