Slovenia: Inflation picks up in May from the prior month
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices were up 3.8% on a year-on-year basis in May, following a 3.4% rise in the previous month. May’s reading was the strongest since November 2023.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were higher price pressures for transportation (+6.3% in annual terms vs +5.4% in April), housing and utilities (+11.0% vs +10.9% in April) and recreation (+2.2% vs +1.6% in April). In contrast, there were milder price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.1% vs +1.2% in April) and restaurants and hotels (+3.4% vs +3.9% in April).
Meanwhile, consumer prices rose 3.6% in May, following a 3.1% rise in the prior month.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.34% in May on a month-on-month basis, following a 1.83% increase in the prior month.
