Slovakia: Industrial production contracts less quickly in May
Latest reading: Industrial production fell 2.0% in annual terms in May, following a 3.2% fall in the previous month, but contracted more than expected by markets.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, readings in May improved for manufacturing (-1.8% in annual terms vs -3.4% in April) and mining and quarrying (-4.9% vs -9.4% in April). In contrast, the reading for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply softened in May (-3.6% vs -0.6% in April).
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production was unchanged.
