Romania: Inflation rises in April from March
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 10.7% in annual terms in April, following a 9.9% increase in the previous month. April’s reading was the strongest since April 2023.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were higher price pressures for non-food goods (+12.0% on a year-on-year basis vs +10.9% in March) and services (+13.0% vs +11.1% in March). In contrast, price pressures reduced for food in April (+7.4% vs +7.7% in March).
Finally, consumer prices were up 0.84% in April on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.78% increase in the prior month.
