Qatar: Inflation slows in May from April
Latest reading: Consumer prices were up 2.2% on a year-on-year basis in May, following a 2.6% increase in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, there were milder price pressures for transport (-3.0% on a year-on-year basis vs -0.5% in April) and recreation and culture (-5.7% vs -3.2% in April). In contrast, there were higher price pressures for food (+11.7% vs +10.4% in April), clothing (+5.5% vs +4.7% in April) and housing (+2.7% vs +1.6% in April).
Lastly, consumer prices were down 0.51% in May on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.74% fall in the prior month.
