Portugal: Economic sentiment hits highest reading since July 2023 in February
Economic sentiment rose to the long-term average of 100.0 in February from January’s 97.6. February’s result marked the best reading since July 2023, pointing to a stable near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected stronger confidence in the services sector. Moreover, sentiment in the industrial sector and among consumers improved in February. Meanwhile, sentiment in the construction sector cooled, and confidence in the retail sector decreased.
Relating to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations were healthier, while the economic uncertainty index fell in February.
