Portugal: Consumer sentiment improves, economic climate brightens in February
Consumer confidence improved to minus 14.5 in February, up from minus 17.7 in January. The print came amid lower pessimism among households regarding both the general economic situation and financial situation in the coming 12 months. Contrastingly, consumer’s views on their past financial situation and major purchases deteriorated.
Meanwhile, the three-month moving average of the economic climate indicator ticked up to 2.1 in February, from January’s 1.9. Looking at the details, sentiment among firms in the manufacturing and construction sectors improved. Contrastingly, firms in the trade and services sectors became more pessimistic.
