Poland: Retail sales cool in December
Nominal retail sales rose 4.7% from the same month a year earlier in December, down from November’s 8.2% year-on-year rise. December’s cool-off was driven partly by a fall in food and beverage sales, as well as slower growth in fuel sales. Motor vehicle sales, which have been volatile since the recent introduction of new emissions-testing procedures, bounced back marginally.
All told, annual average growth in nominal retail sales landed at 7.9% in 2018.
