Netherlands: Economic sentiment declines in May
Latest reading: Economic sentiment dropped to 97.4 in May, following April’s 98.3. The latest reading was the lowest since July 2025 and below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In May, sentiment worsened in the industrial sector (-1.7 vs -0.4 in April). On the flipside, sentiment brightened in the construction sector (+19.8 vs +18.0 in April), the services sector (+3.9 vs +0.5 in April), the retail sector (+9.7 vs +2.2 in April) and among consumers (-22.0 vs -23.9 in April).
