Portugal: Economic sentiment improves in May
Latest reading: Economic sentiment rose to 101.6 in May, following April’s 100.4. The latest reading was above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
In May, sentiment improved in the construction sector (+4.5 vs +3.7 in April), the services sector (+9.1 vs +7.1 in April), the retail sector (+5.7 vs +5.0 in April) and among consumers (-26.3 vs -28.8 in April). However, sentiment darkened in the industrial sector (-4.5 vs -4.1 in April).
