Mexico: Economic activity rises modestly in September
The monthly indicator for economic activity (IGAE) rose 0.3% in seasonally-adjusted, month-on-month terms in September, rebounding from August’s revised 0.1% slip (previously reported: +0.1% month-on-month; s.a.).
September’s print mainly reflected a jump in primary-sector activity as well as a slight expansion of the services sector. Meanwhile, activity in the industrial sector stagnated from August.
On a year-on-year basis, economic activity ticked up 0.1% in September, also rebounding from August’s 1.0% decline. Lastly, annual average growth in economic activity inched down to 0.3% from 0.4% in the previous month.
