Mexico: Economic activity picks up slightly at 2019-end
The monthly indicator for economic activity (IGAE) climbed 0.2% in seasonally-adjusted, month-on-month terms in December 2019, following November’s 0.1% uptick.
December’s print reflected a mixed performance across the major sectors. Although activity in the primary and industrial sectors contracted from November, services sector activity grew—underpinning the overall increase.
On a year-on-year basis, economic activity edged up 0.7% in December, rebounding from November’ 1.2% slip. Lastly, the annual average variation in economic activity inched up to minus 0.1% from minus 0.2% in November.
