Malaysia: Industrial output deteriorates in December
Industrial production slid 0.1% year on year in December (November: +0.6% yoy). The reading was partly driven by a sharper contraction in manufacturing production, as it recorded the weakest reading since June. In contrast, mining and quarrying production picked up pace.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, factory output fell at a quicker rate of 2.6% in December (November: -0.2% mom) Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average growth of industrial production coming in at a two-year low of 0.9% in December, down from November’s 1.1% reading.
