Lithuania: Harmonized inflation falls to a near three-year low in January
Harmonized inflation came in at 1.1% in January, which was down from December’s 1.6%. January’s reading represented the lowest inflation rate since February 2021 and fell below the Euro area average of 2.8%. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased at a weaker rate, while prices for housing and utilities dropped at a quicker pace.
Annual average harmonized inflation fell to 7.3% in January (December: 8.7%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 0.7% in January, from the previous month’s 1.2%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.11% from the previous month in January, swinging from December’s 0.60% fall. January’s figure marked the highest reading since October 2023.
