Hong Kong: Inflation declines to lowest level since March 2023 in January
Inflation came in at 1.7% in January, which was down from December’s 2.4%. January’s reading marked the weakest inflation rate since March 2023, and was driven by lower price pressures for food and transport.
In addition, the trend pointed down slightly, with annual average inflation coming in at 2.0% in January (December: 2.1%).
Lastly, consumer prices fell a seasonally adjusted 0.09% from the previous month in January, swinging from December’s 0.09% rise.
