Latvia: Economic sentiment hits two-year high in February
Economic sentiment came in at 97.9 in February, up from January’s 96.4. February’s result marked the best performance since February 2022. That said, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected improved sentiment in the industrial and retail sectors, as well as weaker sentiment in the construction sector and softer confidence in the services sector. Finally, consumer confidence rose in February.
Referring to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations were unchanged, while the economic uncertainty index decreased in February.
