Italy: Economic sentiment rises into optimistic territory in March
Economic sentiment rose to 100.9 in March from February’s 99.4. As a result, the index moved above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected stronger sentiment in the industrial and construction sectors. In the meantime, confidence in the services sector improved in March, as did sentiment in the retail sector. Finally, consumer confidence waned in March.
Relating to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations were unchanged, while the economic uncertainty index increased in March.
