Latvia: Economic sentiment steady in March
Economic sentiment came in at 98.1 in March, matching February’s reading. Consequently, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected improved sentiment in the industrial and construction sectors. Moreover, confidence in the services sector strengthened in March, while sentiment in the retail sector cooled in the surveyed month. Finally, consumer confidence weakened in March.
Relating to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations weakened, while the economic uncertainty index fell in March.
