Italy: Economic sentiment decreases in November
Economic sentiment fell to 96.5 in November from October’s 96.8. November’s result marked the weakest sentiment since October 2022. As a result, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected languished sentiment in the industrial sector and dampened sentiment in the construction sector. Additionally, confidence in the services sector weakened in November, while sentiment in the retail sector rose in the surveyed month. Finally, consumer confidence improved in November.
Relating to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations weakened, while the economic uncertainty index improved in November.
