India: Industrial production speeds up in May
Latest reading: Industrial production increased 5.1% on a year-on-year basis in May, following a 4.9% rise in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, readings in May improved for mining (-1.6% on a year-on-year basis vs -3.8% in April) and electricity (+11.1% vs +3.3% in April). In contrast, the reading for manufacturing softened in May (+5.5% vs +6.1% in April).
