Hungary: Economic sentiment falls in August
Latest reading: Economic sentiment went down to 101.0 in August, following July’s 104.5. Still, the latest reading was above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
In August, sentiment worsened in the industrial sector (-8.2 vs -1.7 in July), the construction sector (-28.7 vs -24.3 in July), the retail sector (-10.8 vs -9.5 in July) and among consumers (-3.1 vs +1.2 in July). In contrast, sentiment turned more upbeat in the services sector (-8.9 vs -12.8 in July).
