Ghana: Inflation falls in August on base year change
Inflation fell to 7.8% in August, from 9.4% in July, following a change to the consumer price index base year from 2012 to 2018. Thus, inflation fell below the mid-point of the Central Bank’s 6.0%–10.0% target band for the first time since September 2013. In turn, annual average inflation eased to 9.2% from 9.4% in July.
In July, the last month for which data is available, consumer prices rose 0.6% over the previous month in July, down from the 0.8% month-on-month increase in June.
