Germany: Economic sentiment improves in August
Latest reading: Economic sentiment went up to 94.1 in August, following July’s 92.8. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy and the highest since June 2023.
In August, sentiment improved in the industrial sector (-11.0 vs -12.9 in July), the services sector (+5.5 vs +4.3 in July) and among consumers (-12.7 vs -13.8 in July). Sentiment regarding the construction sector and the retail sector were unchanged from the prior month (-14.3% and -25.8%, respectively).
