France: Economic sentiment rises in August
Latest reading: Economic sentiment went up to 98.1 in August, following July’s 95.8. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In August, sentiment brightened in the industrial sector (-3.6 vs -6.1 in July), the construction sector (-18.2 vs -19.3 in July) and the retail sector (-9.3 vs -14.2 in July). However, sentiment darkened in the services sector (-2.9 vs -2.8 in July) and among consumers (-17.8 vs -16.9 in July).
