Finland: Merchandise trade deficit widens in May
Latest reading: In May, the trade balance was EUR -1.0 billion, following a EUR -0.4 billion reading in the previous month. This was the largest deficit since August 2022. Over the last 12 months, the trade balance summed to EUR -3.5 billion.
Merchandise exports declined 5.0% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in May, following a 1.7% rise in the previous month. May’s reading was the weakest since August 2025. Merchandise imports rose 3.0% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in May, coming on the back of 3.4% growth in the previous month.
