Euro Area: Economic sentiment rises in July
Latest reading: Economic sentiment went up to 96.9 in July, following June’s 95.4. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In July, sentiment improved in the industrial sector (-6.1 vs -7.5 in June), the services sector (+4.7 vs +4.2 in June), the retail sector (-6.6 vs -9.3 in June) and among consumers (-15.9 vs -17.6 in June). In contrast, sentiment worsened in the construction sector (-5.3 vs -4.8 in June).
