Denmark: Economic sentiment picks up in December
Economic sentiment rose to 93.0 in December from November’s 89.4. Despite the improvement, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected stronger sentiment in the industrial sector and weaker sentiment in the construction sector. Meanwhile, confidence in the services sector improved in December. Less positively, sentiment in the retail sector deteriorated in the surveyed month. Lastly, consumer sentiment cooled in December.
Referring to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations weakened, while the economic uncertainty index increased in December.
