Finland: Economic sentiment rises in December
Economic sentiment rose to 80.0 in December from November’s 79.9. As a result, the index remained entrenched below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected less pessimistic sentiment in both the industrial and the construction sectors. Similarly, sentiment in the services sector also strengthened in December. Less positively, sentiment in the retail sector deteriorated in the surveyed month. Lastly, consumer sentiment waned in December.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations improved, while the economic uncertainty index fell in December.
