Denmark: Consumer confidence declines in August

The consumer confidence index released by Statistics Denmark dropped from 9.7 points in July to 7.8 points in August. Despite the drop, the index lies comfortably above the crucial zero-point mark that separates optimism from pessimism among consumers, where it has been since January 2017.

August’s decline reflected consumers’ less positive view of both their personal financial situation and the general economic situation over the last 12 months and for the year ahead. However, consumers became more willing to make major purchases.
