Cyprus: Harmonized inflation plunges to lowest level since March in December
Harmonized inflation dropped to 7.6% in December, following Novembers 8.1%. December’s figure represented the lowest inflation rate since March. The drop was broad-based, with lower price pressures recorded for food and non-alcoholic beverages, transportation and housing and utilities.
The trend pointed up mildly, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 8.1% in December (November: 7.9%).
Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 7.9% in December, from the previous month’s 8.7%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices fell 0.78% in December over the previous month, a sharper drop than the 0.38% decline recorded in November. December’s result marked the lowest reading since September.
