Costa Rica: Economic activity gains steam in June
Latest reading: Economic activity rose 3.1% on a year-on-year basis in June, following 2.5% growth in the previous month.
Relative to the prior month’s data, readings in June improved for manufacturing (-0.1% on a year-on-year basis vs -1.7% in May) and the construction sector (+10.9% vs +7.4% in May). In contrast, readings worsened for agriculture, forestry and fishing (-2.5% vs +2.0% in May), information and communication (+3.6% vs +4.1% in May) and domestic trade (+2.6% vs +2.9% in May).
On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, economic activity was stable in June, following a 1.0% rise in the previous month.
