Costa Rica: Economic activity slows in April
Latest reading: Economic activity rose 1.7% in annual terms in April, following a 4.3% increase in the prior month. April’s reading was the weakest since July 2022.
Relative to the prior month’s data, readings in April worsened for agriculture, forestry and fishing (-3.1% on a year-on-year basis vs +3.8% in March), manufacturing (-2.5% vs +2.1% in March), information and communication (+2.8% vs +3.6% in March), construction (+1.5% vs +14.1% in March) and domestic trade (+2.9% vs +3.1% in March).
On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, economic activity fell 0.5% in April, following a 1.1% increase in the prior month.
