China: Growth in house prices eases in January
House prices in 70 large- and medium-sized cities rose 0.2% in January in month-on-month terms according to a weighted average index calculated by Refinitiv from data issued by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The print was down from the 0.3% increase in December, and represented the weakest result since February 2018. According to the NBS, the sale price of newly constructed residential buildings increased in 55 of the 70 cities (50 in December).
House prices increased 6.3% annually in January, below the 6.6% rise in December and the lowest result in 18 months. Annual average growth in house prices inched down from 9.3% in December to 9.0% in January.
