Chile: Inflation decelerates in July from the prior month
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 3.5% on a year-on-year basis in July, following a 4.3% rise in the previous month.
Relative to the prior month’s data, there were reduced price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+4.0% in annual terms vs +4.2% in June), housing, utilities and fuel (+3.4% vs +4.3% in June) and transportation (+4.6% vs +8.6% in June).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices rose 2.9% in annual terms in July, following a 3.1% increase in the previous month.
Finally, consumer prices increased 0.09% in July in month-on-month terms, following a 0.02% decline in the prior month.
