Chile: Business confidence improves marginally in July
The business confidence index (IMCE), published by ICARE and the Adolfo Ibáñez University, slightly improved in July, landing at 50.4 points (June: 50.2 points), marginally above the crucial 50-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism among Chilean businesses.
Notably, sentiment in the industrial sector improved, albeit remained negative, while sentiment in mining rose to a 14-month high. In contrast, sentiment in commerce fell, but remained positive, while sentiment in construction dipped further into negative territory in July.
