Bulgaria: Inflation picks up in April from the prior month
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 6.0% in annual terms in April, following a 2.8% rise in the previous month. April’s reading was the strongest since September 2023.
Relative to the prior month’s data, there were higher price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+5.1% on a year-on-year basis vs +3.9% in March), transportation (+12.2% vs +2.7% in March), housing and utilities (+4.7% vs +4.2% in March), recreation (+11.1% vs +10.8% in March) and restaurants and hotels (+7.8% vs +6.4% in March).
Meanwhile, consumer prices rose 6.8% in April, following a 4.1% increase in the prior month.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices increased 1.82% in April on a month-on-month basis, following a 1.02% rise in the prior month.
