Cyprus: Inflation rises in April from the prior month
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices rose 3.0% on a year-on-year basis in April, following a 1.5% rise in the previous month. April’s reading was the strongest since December 2024.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were higher price pressures for transportation (+6.7% on a year-on-year basis vs +1.2% in March), housing and utilities (+1.2% vs -4.0% in March), recreation (+6.8% vs +5.7% in March) and restaurants and hotels (+4.8% vs +2.4% in March). In contrast, price pressures reduced for food and non-alcoholic beverages in April (+5.2% vs +6.5% in March).
Meanwhile, consumer prices rose 2.8% in April, following a 1.2% rise in the previous month.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices rose 2.22% in April on a month-on-month basis, following a 1.06% increase in the prior month.
