Belgium: Economic sentiment rises in August
Latest reading: Economic sentiment rose to 89.8 in August, following July’s 88.8. Still, the latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In August, sentiment improved in the construction sector (-11.8 vs -11.9 in July) and the retail sector (+0.6 vs -9.4 in July). In contrast, sentiment worsened in the industrial sector (-16.2 vs -16.0 in July), the services sector (+2.2 vs +2.3 in July) and among consumers (-16.3 vs -15.9 in July).
