Angola: Inflation hits 36-month low in May
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 10.9% in annual terms in May, following a 11.6% rise in the prior month. May’s reading was the weakest since May 2023.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, there were reduced price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+11.3% on a year-on-year basis vs +12.0% in April), transport (+15.7% vs +16.5% in April), housing and utilities (+14.3% vs +15.2% in April) and clothing (+7.4% vs +8.5% in April).
Finally, consumer prices were up 0.54% in May in month-on-month terms, following a 0.58% rise in the previous month.
