Inflation ebbs in June from May
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 2.3% in annual terms in June, following a 2.9% rise in the prior month. Relative to the prior month's figures, price pressures reduced for food and alcoholic beverages in June (+2.4% on a year-on-year basis vs +2.7% in May). In contrast, price pressures were higher for housing, electricity, water and fuels in June (+2.2% vs +1.7% in May). Finally, the variation in clothing and footwear prices was the same as in the prior month (+0.6% in June and May). Lastly, consumer prices fell 0.32% in June in month-on-month terms, following a 0.12% fall in the previous month.
