Vietnam: Inflation ebbs in July from June
Latest reading: Consumer prices increased 4.4% in annual terms in July, following a 4.7% rise in the prior month and inching below the Central Bank’s 4.5% target.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, there were milder price pressures for food (+3.6% in annual terms vs +3.8% in June), transportation (+1.8% vs +3.4% in June) and housing and construction materials (+5.4% vs +5.9% in June). In contrast, price pressures were higher for education in July (+10.3% vs +10.1% in June).
Lastly, consumer prices fell 0.12% in July in month-on-month terms, following a 0.39% decline in the prior month.
