Uruguay: Inflation declines further in January
Inflation eased to 8.0% in January from Decembers 8.3%. Januarys reading marked the lowest inflation rate since December 2021. The slowdown was largely driven by softer rises in prices for housing and utilities, and transportation. That said, food inflation accelerated.
Meanwhile, annual average inflation was stable at 9.0%.
Lastly, consumer prices increased 1.55% in January over the previous month, following Decembers 0.26% decrease.
