Uruguay: Manufacturing production shrinks in May
Latest reading: Manufacturing production declined 3.5% in annual terms in May, following a 4.0% increase in the previous month. May’s reading was the weakest since October 2025.
Relative to the prior month’s data, readings in May softened for food (-4.5% in annual terms vs +1.7% in April) and chemical substances and products (-12.2% vs -4.2% in April). In contrast, readings picked up for paper (+15.0% vs +2.5% in April) and beverages (+16.9% vs +16.0% in April).
