Latest reading: Retail sales rose 1.2% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in May, following a 1.0% fall in the previous month. The reading was more than twice as high as markets had expected, with retailers benefiting from promotional campaigns and warm weather.
In annual terms, retail sales rose 3.3% in May, following 0.1% growth in the previous month.
