United Kingdom: Inflation eases in June from May
Latest reading: Consumer prices increased 2.6% in annual terms in June, following a 2.8% increase in the prior month. June’s reading was the weakest since March 2025 and below market expectations.
Relative to the prior month’s data, there were milder price pressures for transportation (+5.7% in annual terms vs +6.8% in May) and food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.7% vs +2.2% in May). In contrast, price pressures were higher for recreation and culture in June (+1.6% vs +1.5% in May).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices increased 2.6% in annual terms in June, stable from the prior month’s reading.
Finally, consumer prices increased 0.13% in June in month-on-month terms, following a 0.21% rise in the previous month.
