Taiwan: Inflation decelerates in July from June
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 2.5% in annual terms in July, following a 2.6% rise in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, there were milder price pressures for transportation (+2.7% in annual terms vs +4.1% in June) and education and entertainment (+3.2% vs +3.6% in June). In contrast, there were more notable price pressures for food (+2.5% vs +1.8% in June) and housing (+2.3% vs +2.2% in June).
Finally, consumer prices were up 0.31% in July on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.52% increase in the prior month.
