Switzerland: Retail sales slow in July
Latest reading: Retail sales were up 0.1% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in July, following a 0.3% rise in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, the reading for food, beverages, and tobacco worsened in July (-0.8% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms vs +0.9% in June). In contrast, readings improved for household equipment (+0.9% vs +0.5% in June) and automotive fuel (+2.0% vs -0.3% in June).
On a calendar-adjusted year-on-year basis, retail sales were up 2.3% in July, following a 1.9% increase in the previous month.
